PM-SDM Light Shield Tube

Introduction

The two-part PM-SDM Light Shield Tube was designed for connecting an OM body to a microscope in conjunction with either the Auto Bellows supported on a Copy Stand or the PM-BD35 manual bellows of the PMT-35 Manual Photomacrographic System. The Objective Lens Mount PM-MTob was attached to the lens mount. The small part of the PM-SDM has an RMS thread on top and is screwed into the PM-MTob. The large part of the PM-SDM fits over a vertical eyepiece tube with a standard 25 mm outside diameter and allows a photo eyepiece to be inserted as normal. The trinocular heads of the E, F and BH compound microscopes have a suitable vertical tube. With the bellows supported on a stand, the microscope has to be positioned on the base so that small and large parts of the PM-SDM are aligned, and then the bellows needs to be lowered until the two parts are almost touching.

It was stated to assure excellent images when used with FK photo eyepieces at the bellows length of 111 mm (4.4″), free of shutter vibration

Versions

There was a different two-piece Light Shield Tube for use with the PM-PSS Photomicrographic Supporting Stand.

There was also a single-part Light Excluding Collar PM-SDM-2 with an OM bayonet mount, for connecting the later PM-BD35A auto bellows of the PMT-35 to the photo tube of a microscope in conjunction with a PM-ADF eyepiece adapter.
