New Tai Lue

U+1980 – U+19DF   (6528–6623)

The New Tai Lue range was introduced with version 4.1 of the Unicode Standard, and is located in Plane 0, the Basic Multilingual Plane.

New Tai Lue was developed in China during the 1950s, and is a simplified version of the Lanna script that has historically been used for writing the Tai Lue language. It is used mainly in southern China.

Microsoft Windows incorporates support for New Tai Lue Unicode from Windows 7 onwards.

The characters that appear in the “Character” columns of the following table depend on the browser that you are using, the fonts installed on your computer, and the browser options you have chosen that determine the fonts used to display particular character sets, encodings or languages.

You can find some or all of the characters in this range in the Windows Unicode fonts Dai Banna SIL Book, Dai Banna SIL Light and Microsoft New Tai Lue (in Windows 7).

To see exactly which characters are included in a particular font, you can use a utility such as Andrew West’s BabelMap, or WunderMoosen’s FontChecker.
